The founder of Anti – Dowry Movement

Four years back, it being one fine morning of the summer that Mr. Naiyer Ahsan arrived in Aligarh Muslim University, we witnessed a grave personality in him with gentle and noble impulses, a personality seldom found among the new generation.

If this personality is thoroughly studied, one thing would evidently emanate of himself – his selflessness. Besides, he never gets angry, hardly a furrow of fear ever visible over his forehead, never gets irritated, never gets disappointed, hardly gets tired and lives ever mobile with undiminished energy – mobility and silence are coupled with him. 

The other great quality marked in him, one can't help being impressed with, is his idealism, such an idealism which is albeit denude of any pride: no variance between thoughts and actions, no ostentations at all; sheer simplicity instead, desire to do not little for big task, but keenness to do a lot for even a little cause, a dream he ever cherishes for the future of the society. His dream which has hoisted up the bitterness in the fabric of our society he has painfully ever watched. The solidity of his character, one among many aforesaid qualities, is distinct in him from the rest of the present generation. 

If the solidity of character is interpreted, we would notice in him strong will, unflinching determination, stark intellectual honesty and unbounded sacrifice for the cause championed. 

If all the qualities were put together, one would definitely emerge as a person whom we may of course unexaggeratedly term as a gravitating force. It is such a force which can't help drawing even the most madly of the earth towards him. Naiyer Ahsan keeps a gravitational force of that sort in him. 

Five years back he had in his individual capacity initiated a movement known as Anti Dowry Movement. Today the movement is spreading rapidly in the alpha and omega of the country like anything. He is not alone today; hundreds of followers are behind him. The movement is leaving its indelible influence on society, changing the minds of youth, the new generation is getting rebellious against the old traditions that threaten to damage the human values. The change would not have been possible, if Naiyer Ahsan himself had not set the example. He bought coherence in his thoughts and actions. Of course, he didn't rebel against his family; he made them think in his line. Eventually he married in his own family, the way he had tailored. May Allah grant him a happy conjugal life! 

Undoubtedly, he fulfilled all the responsibilities of the movement with his worth, wealth and words. If any program had to be organized or finance arranged, he alone would do all, and many times, it would cost his own pocket. He has travelled far and wide for the cause and undertaken innumerable responsibilities, so many at a time that we can't even imagine today. 

The volunteers of Anti Dowry Movement, the sincere supporters, today express their sense of gratitude to him for his pain he has taken for driving the mission home and pray to God for his long life and success. We hope that he would be leading this Movement even after leaving Aligarh and the coming generation will be learning a lesson from him.
