Dear Readers,
Assalam Alaikum.

This month of July has been especially lucky for us, for our Bakhabar, we feel proud to be presenting the world famous broadcaster and writer of several books, Raza Ali Abidi  of BBC.  The truly one and only, our BBC wale Abidi Bhai. Many of us have grown up listening to his velvety and inimitable voice floating from the radio in those blissful pre-TV days , for me , he has been special , as his voice has  shaped my coherence , all along the journey of life. He was kind enough to send us his still unpublished paper which he read in Karachi, last month. In this fine essay, he marks out the absurdities that have sneaked in Urdu of our times. It’s indeed his job alone to enlighten us about it in his most unique and novel way. Our other two essays too are from enlightened pens. Ms. Abida Rehmani has worked as a translator/interpreter since last many years and she is an expert in seven languages!  Read her in While on Facebook you never face a book, a penetrating analysis of ‘our’ perennial need to connect with ‘others’ and how if not kept under control , it can fetch disastrous results. Another piece de resistance is also about Facebook, Facebook IPO, to be precise, termed as a “100 Billion Dollar: Crime against Humanity”. I feel truly honored to tell you about its writer, he is a fabulous person, crowned recently among the twenty most influential people in the world of Islamic finance,  he is ,Dr.Mansoor Durrani, CEO, NCB, Jeddah and a writer in his own league on various themes related to finance and banking but with a close perspective of Islam. Here he pricks the balloon of Facebook IPO and shows us how it has succeeded in making a fool of the people who think it very fashionable to be a Facebookian! He is among that rare species who proudly declare, Trust me, I am not on FB! It’s really a fabulous read. Then this month we also have Aleem Khan Falaki Sahab, the crusader against the malaise of dowry and sister Ambreen Juvale of IRF,Mumbai.  Their write ups make us muse about the abuse! We at Bakhabar, thank all these wonderful people for sharing with us their noble notions.
Stevenson said that those who did not read Hazlitt’s beautiful essay, On Going a Journey, should be levied a tax. I would say, those who do not read Bakhabar, July issue, too should be levied a tax and more so if they do not read our next August issue which will be a special, ‘Independence Special’, inshaAllah
Best wishes for the holy month of Ramdan!
Stay cool!
